and other EU institutions are placed in grades starting with AD 5 and ending with
[AD 16](https://euemployment.eu/glossary/ad-16/) reserved for Directors General.

AD 5 is the initial [grade](https://euemployment.eu/glossary/grade/) for [Administrators](https://euemployment.eu/glossary/administrators/)
and is considered an entry [grade](https://euemployment.eu/glossary/grade/), although
the [salary of an Administrator AD 5](https://euemployment.eu/ad-5-salary/) is higher
than for most [Contract Agents](https://euemployment.eu/category/contract-agents-fgi-fgii-fgiii-fgiv/).
