# Daily subsistence allowance

**The ‘Daily subsistence allowance’ is one of the benefits paid to new staff members
of EU institutions if they have had to relocate and settle in to the new ‘place 
of work’ within their own country or to a different EU Member State**.

The Daily subsistence allowance or DSA is higher and is paid for a longer period
if the staff member is married/in a registered partnership or has dependent children.
