The General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union (GSC) is hiring an Assistant to Lawyer-Linguists (Contract Agent, FG III) in Brussels. This is a brilliant opportunity to launch an EU institutional career while directly contributing to the preparation of Montenegro’s Accession Treaty and European legislation.

Each week we select vacancies that avoid the slow EPSO procedures and allow you to fast track your EU career. Most roles still require passing a test and an interview, but it’s at most a 2-4 months process after the application deadline.

What will you be doing?

You will work alongside lawyer-linguists in the Directorate for Quality of Legislation, formatting draft regulations and performing paralegal research. Your daily work will ensure legal and linguistic consistency across official legislative acts during key negotiations.

Competitive net salary and benefits

Starting take-home pay ranges from ~€2,920 for local single staff up to ~€5,120 per month for expatriates with dependent children, completely exempt from national income tax. Staff receive full JSIS health cover, EU pension vesting, hybrid working flexibility, and direct access to European Schools.

Who is this for?

Applicants must be nationals of an EU Member State or Montenegro, holding either a post-secondary diploma or secondary education backed by at least three years of relevant experience. You need a C2 native level in Montenegrin, strong C1 English, and good Office software skills.
