This post is a “living” collection of best hotels in Brussels that always or sometimes offer a special price for staff of EU institutions or Member States officials attending EU institutions’ events.
This price is 148 EUR per night for room only and 170.20 EUR per night for room and breakfast, as this is the upper limit in the European Commission’s mission rules for hotels in Belgium. Hotels usually refer to this spcial price as the “European Commission rate”, but other names are also used.
Remember that the 148 EUR ceiling only applies to the room price only. You can claim the reimbursement of “city tax” separately in your mission claim. You can pay up to 170.20 EUR for hotel and breakfast because mission rules allow to also book hotels with breakfast included if the breakfast price is not more than 15% of the room price. This works out to be 22.20 EUR for Brussels.
IMPORTANT – to get this price, you will have to get in touch with the hotel reception/backoffice, as the EU officials price might not be always available, e.g., during high season and large events. I usually contact the hotel only when their price on Booking.com is above the ceiling.

The hotel will send you a special form, where you will have to insert your personal info and payment card data. This hotel had one of the more complicated procedures, as other hotels usually just ask for your regular minimum personal info.
