Unemployment allowance

In certain situations, employees of EU institutions are entitled to the European Commission Unemployment allowance, which is paid out by the Paymaster’s Office (PMO).

You can qualify for the EC Unemployment allowance if you have a) worked for the EU for more than 6 months, b) not resigned yourself, c) not been dismissed for disciplinary reasons.

The allowance is paid for a maximum of three years in the following amounts: (a) 60 % of the basic salary for the first 12 months, (b) 45 % of the basic salary for the 13th to the 24th month, (c) 30 % of the basic salary for the 25th to the 36th month.

You will continue to receive all previous allowances during the Unemployment leave.
